The best replacement Wraparound Tailpiece for 1950s and 1960s original Gibsons with offset bridge studs.

Note: For modern guitars and reissues, consider the "Savvy" Compensated Wraparound Tailpiece.

The Stud Finder corrects all of the original stop bar problems.

-Extended treble-side collar and compensated top for accurate intonation.

-Offset string holes that allow strings to line up over pickup poles and fretboard correctly.

-Extended treble-side collar gives metal-on-metal contact. This means better tone, sustain and NO MORE TIPPING!

-Low profile so you can set your action as low as you want to.

-No sitar buzz!

Customer feedback:

"In tune, great sustain, sounds amazing, It's everything you could want. " - Vince Gill

"This bridge is the result of years of frustration." -Tom Bukovac

"The improvement in intonation and playability is such a joy to discover that I can't recommend it more highly." - Robben Ford

"The Stud Finder finally gets it right! The intonation is finally right now, the strings fall on the fingerboard where they should, the tone is awesome AND it looks right to the guitar. Well done!" - Jerry McPherson

Notes:

-This bridge does not address the problems on reissue LPs, only on the original guitars.

-As Gibson used studs with a variety of diameters, installation might require replacement studs.

-This bridge is designed for instruments with severely offset studs. If your studs are parallel or slightly offset, the Savvy will be the best fit for your guitar.

Finally

Thank you so very much for this! My family had heard me tell of my, “one that I wish I hadn’t sold” guitars, for years. It was a ‘57 junior! Well, flash forward from 1984, to 2019, they got me a 100 year anniversary junior. It had the Gibson “compensated”, wraparound bridge. Needless to say, it was terrible. I tried a couple of tuneomatic style wraparounds, the dreaded “sitar” on the unwound strings reared its’ ugly head. Then , I saw the Bukovac video of the Music City “Stud Finder” wraparound bridge. I couldn’t get to the site fast enough! Ordered, came in the mail today, 03/22/2024, put it on, tuned up, intonated,… oh man!!! So happy, it was such an unexpected moment when my family gave me the reissue junior! I was speechless! The OEM bridge was such a let down, it made playing my gift a chore. Now , with this elegant, understated , expertly designed wraparound bridge,… I think it’s going to be hard to find me NOT playing old junior! Thank you for this , very much!

Go ahead and do it!!!

Absolutely will up your tuning and action/feeling to the point where you'll think... "why did I wait so long to do this!!!!"

Put this on a 1961 SG Special, got rid of the sitar vibe and really improves my tuning and the feeling/action of the guitar. Bought the Studs as well, looks killer, sounds excellent, rings longer!!!!

BTW... Uncle Larry is the GOAT!!!! Thanks Josh and the good folks at MCB!!!!

Exceeds Expectations

I recently bought a ‘58 and a ‘59 Les Paul Special and while they played well the stock bridges were inadequate. Being a Homeskooler I heard Tom Bukovac rave about the MCB Stud Finder bridge for old Gibson. If anything he was under selling the Stud Finder. I put a Stud Finder and new studs on both guitars and they are totally transformed. The tone, sustain and playability is night and day better without compromising the instrument in any way. T he inks for creating such an amazing product.

Great Upgrade to Les Paul Jr.

Got a Stud Finder and Locking Studs for my 73/74 Jr. Had a Quann that was ok, but did the dreaded nosedive. Installed the locking nuts and Stud Finder in no time. Strung her up and was amazed. Totally in tune/ great intonation all the way up the neck. Even improved the action and sustain. The guitar always was a beast but even more so now. Totally recommend whichever bridge works for your guitar. Thank You Music City!!

The best, most elegant solution to the original Les Paul Jr. wraptail.

After getting turned on to this bridge from a Tom Bukovac Homeskoolin video, I decided to try one out on my 1958 Les Paul Jr.. When I bought the guitar in the 80s, it came with the OG bridge but had a Leo Quan Badass bridge installed. The Leo Quan unit was a fine solution for it's time but the Music City Bridge is to me the most evolved solution. Obviously easy to install and easy to dial in perfect intonation, the Music City Bridge has been a game changer on my Junior. The guitar rings like a bell and has much improved sustain and tonality. The staff at MCB are awesome to deal with as well!

At last - a solution to make a 53 Les Paul an awesome player as well as a looker!

I have been searching for the answer to lowering the action on my 53 Goldtop down to what my admittedly somewhat pooncy fingers consider to be a genuinely playable action - many avenues were explored, to the point where I was actually contemplating a neck reset. However - then I happened across Tom Bukovac discussing the Music City Bridges and it looked like I had found the answer. So I ordered the Stud Finder and matching locking studs. All of these items are beautifully made - like, bordering on works of art! A small hiccup was that the Les Paul had the infamous shallow studs, whereas the Music City studs are the more standard longer studs; five minutes with an angle grinder and file and the problem was solved. The bridge fits beautifully, sounds great, intonates perfectly and yes, the action is now down around playable level as opposed to "gee this'd be an awesome slide guitar" height. Looks like the old girl might be returning to its role of number one gigging guitar. Thanks for making a beautiful and truly functional solution to this problem.
